Hayley was a classically beautiful bride and she chose to get married at her parents' home where she grew up, which made this wedding that much sweeter for her and her family. It was quite the labor of love since her father built the ceremony structure, bar and hung all of the bistro lighting for the dinner. The centerpiece to their creekside cocktail hour was a rustic trough that held ice-cold beer.
When they first started talking about the wedding, Alec brought up the scene from The Great Gatsby that begins with “In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars.” The Great Gatsby is Hayley's all-time favorite book, so she was drawn to the idea of a jubilant garden party with champagne and stars, but a lot less opulence than Gatsby’s extravagant parties. They decided they wanted an elegant outdoor restaurant look so they went with white linen, white place settings, and minimal table décor: just floral centerpieces and votives in mixed mercury glass. I assisted them in creating delicate romance that didn’t take away from the natural beauty of her parents’ garden.
