My inspiration for this tablescape came from the clear aqua ocean of Hawaii and corresponding organic beach elements such as coral, driftwood, capiz shells and sea sponges. The combination of the more weathered and rough pieces with the sophisticated textures of glass and florals created a beach-chic elegance that goes beyond typical sand and sea. I even utilized tall votive holders covered in netting inspired by the traditional ‘upena (fishing nets) used by the kama’aina (locals).
Hawaii can be somewhat known for tropical styled weddings, but the islands have so much more to offer than just sand and palm trees to allow us to create unique designs for each couple. I wanted the tablescape to showcase texture, softness and emote relaxed luxury. It is this vacation-minded ambiance coupled with clean, elegant designs that resonates time and time again with my destination wedding couples.
Kualoa Ranch provided a beautiful and historically rich backdrop for the shoot. Marella and I set up the design at Moli’i Gardens overlooking the fishponds with the majestic Ko’olau mountains in the background. The lush surroundings of the venue allowed the clean white and neutral palette to be the star of the show.
